Status Report of the HIMAC Control System --Reliable beam supply for cancer radiotherapy with carbon beam--
HIMAC has been in operation for nearly two years. During this period, the accelerator complex was commissioned, clinical trial started June 1994, and more than fifty patients treated with a 290 400 MeV/u carbon beam, which has been delivered on schedule and with greater than 99% reliability.
متن کاملStatus of Proton Beam Commissioning at the Medaustron Ion Beam Therapy Centre
The MedAustron accelerator (Wiener Neustadt, Austria) will deliver clinical beams of protons (60 250 MeV) and carbon ions (120 400 MeV/n) to three ion beam therapy irradiation rooms (IR). Clinical beams and proton beams up to 800 MeV will be provided in a fourth IR, dedicated to non-clinical research. A slow-extracted proton beam of maximum clinical energy reached for the first time the IR3 in ...
متن کاملIon beam analyses of carbon nanotubes.
The utility of ion beam analysis (IBA) techniques to quantitatively determine impurities in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) over a wide range of atomic numbers is demonstrated. Such techniques have not previously been used to monitor impurities and their effects in this unique material. Despite the difficulty in mounting the samples (which generally are formed into a powdery aggregate rather in a thin ...
متن کاملCalculation of WER values of some dosimetric plastic materials applied at helium ion beam therapy
In this research, water equivalent ratios (WER) at helium ion beam energy ranging 25-250 MeV/u for four potential plastic dosimetric materials: polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PP), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and paraffin have been calculated using MCNPX Monte Carlo code. Among studied materials, PC and PP with 0.979 and 1.177 show minimum and maximum differences with water respectively....
متن کاملImpact of Various Beam Parameters on Lateral Scattering in Proton and Carbon-ion Therapy
Background: In radiation therapy with ion beams, lateral distributions of absorbed dose in the tissue are important. Heavy ion therapy, such as carbon-ion therapy, is a novel technique of high-precision external radiotherapy which has advantages over proton therapy in terms of dose locality and biological effectiveness. Methods: In this study, we used Monte Carlo method-based Geant4 toolkit to s...
